Andrew obtained his Occupational Therapy Diploma from Nanyang Polytechnic in 2000 and began practising at the National University Hospital the same year. From 2003 to 2004, whilst still practising, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (with distinction) from Curtin University Australia. Andrew also won the CRS Australia Award for Highest Academic Achievement in Ergonomics & Occupational Health.

During his tenure at the National University Hospital from 2000 to 2006 where he was Senior Occupational Therapist, Andrew held the role of Therapy Assistants Co-Supervisor in addition to his portfolio as Hand Therapy & Myofascial Pain Management Workgroup Leader. He was also instrumental in collaborating with a fellow therapist to initiate a career pathway for Therapy Assistants.

In 2004, Andrew was awarded the Excellent Service (Gold) Award and subsequently, the 5 year long service award in 2006. Around the same period, he also became certified in level 1 Sports Massage with the Singapore Sports Council (SSC), myofascial release techniques for myofascial pain treatment levels 1 to 3, levels 1 cervical mobilization and cranial sacral balancing techniques (Stanford Educational Group Australia – Singapore) and level 1 practitioner for Kinesio Taping (Singapore).

His clinical interests are in the rehabilitation of upper limb conditions, especially upper limb nerve compression syndromes with/ without cervical and brachial plexus related problems. Other areas include myofascial pain syndromes of the upper quadrant, which often affect the function of the upper limb and also the role and importance of pain management techniques in overcoming recovery pain and hypersensitivity problems.

Andrew’s other interests include recreational cycling and trying out different food jaunts with his family, strumming his guitar, writing, reading and listening to gospel songs and Cantonese/ Chinese oldies. He is also  actively involved in his church’s cell and Chinese youth group ministries.
